Bella Coola Helisports
Payments
Securing your heli-skiing adventure is a simple two-step process. It begins with a deposit, which sets everything in motion. The balance, due later, finalizes your commitment and guarantees your seat.
Installment 1: Non-Refundable Deposit
When you book with us, we require a non-refundable deposit of CA$3,500 per person for Small Group packages and CA$5,000 per person for Private packages.
For lodge buyouts, deposit amounts vary by group; however, the group is collectively responsible for the full buyout deposit, regardless of any individual changes or cancellations within the group.
If you are booking within 90 days of your trip start date, full non-refundable payment is required upfront.
Installment 2: Remaining Balance
The remaining balance of your package is due at least 90 days prior to the start date of the program. We’ll send you a friendly reminder closer to the date.
Insurance
Peace of mind for the unexpected. Heli-skiing is a significant investment and as a result, we strongly suggest that all of our guests purchase insurance. From unexpected injuries during preseason preparation to lost luggage and flight delays, you never know what life will throw at you. Proper coverage is an essential aspect of responsible travel.
Trip Cancellation Insurance
Given our cancellation policy, we advise all guests to purchase trip interruption and cancellation insurance to protect their investment.
Extended Medical Insurance
Ensure your medical insurance provides comprehensive coverage for health care needs while in Canada. If you’re visiting from outside of Canada, your policy should include transport back to your home country if necessary.
Emergency Evacuation Insurance
In the event of an injury requiring air ambulance services, these expenses will be the responsibility of the injured party. Proper insurance can help mitigate these potentially significant costs.
Personal Property Insurance
We recommend insuring your personal belongings against loss or damage. Please verify that your coverage extends to your stay in Canada, as standard homeowner’s insurance may not be sufficient.
For more information or to purchase insurance online, we recommend visiting Acera Insurance. They specialize in coverage for adventure travel and can provide options tailored to your needs.
Cancellations
We get it—life can be unpredictable. If you find yourself in the unfortunate position of needing to cancel your heli-skiing adventure, we’re here to help guide you through the process.
First things first: we strongly recommend purchasing cancellation insurance from Acera Insurance when you book. It’s a small step that can provide peace of mind.
Our Cancellation Policy
More Than 90 Days Before Your Trip
Your first payment is non-refundable, but we have options for you:
- Subject to availability, you may reschedule to a later date within the same season. If applicable you will be required to pay the rate difference.
- Subject to the terms and conditions associated with the initial purchase, you can find a substitute to take over your booking and have them reimburse you directly. The first installment will remain attached to the original booking and the substitute will be responsible for submitting the balance payment at least 90 days prior to the start date of the program.
Less Than 90 Days Before Your Trip
At this stage, both payments are non-refundable. To help make the best of the situation, we offer these options:
- We can attempt to resell your seat on your behalf. If we can resell the seat, we will credit your account for the amount we sold it for, minus a $500 administration fee.
- Subject to the terms and conditions associated with the initial purchase, you can find a substitute to take over your booking and have them reimburse you directly.
Guarantees
We’re committed to maximizing your time in the mountains. That’s why we offer guarantees tailored to your chosen experience—vertical feet for our Small Group packages and helicopter hours for our Private groups and Private buyouts. Here’s how we ensure your trip soars beyond your expectations.
Small Group Packages - Vertical Feet/Metres Per Person
Small Group Packages include:
- Small Group Vertical
- Expert Group Vertical
- Unlimited Vertical
All Small Group packages include a designated number of vertical feet per person, based on the length of stay, with a guaranteed minimum of 80% of the program vertical.
For example, a 7-night Small Group Vertical program at Tweedsmuir Park Lodge includes 100,000 vertical feet, with a guaranteed minimum of 80% (80,000 vertical feet). The same 80% guarantee applies to Expert Group Vertical and Unlimited Vertical programs, based on the vertical allocation associated with each stay.
If mechanical issues or weather conditions prevent you from reaching the guaranteed minimum by the end of the program, you will be presented with the option to receive either a partial refund or a credit toward a future trip.
Refunds or credits may be applied toward lodge incidentals and gratuities or returned to your original method of payment. They are calculated using the following formula:
(Guaranteed Vertical – Actual Vertical) ÷ 1,000 × Dollar Rate per 1,000 Vertical Feet
Example
Let’s assume that at the end of your program, you skied 70,000 vertical feet.
80,000 (guaranteed) – 70,000 (actual) = 10,000 vertical feet shortfall
10,000 ÷ 1,000 = 10 units
10 × $72 = $720 refund or credit
Private Packages & Lodge Buyouts - Helicopter Hours Per Group
Private Packages include:
- Private Helicopter & Lodge
- Private Helicopter, Shared Lodge
Private programs include a designated number of helicopter hours per group, based on the length of stay, with a guaranteed minimum of 80% of the allocated helicopter hours.
For example, a 7-night Private Helicopter program at Tweedsmuir Park Lodge includes 8 helicopter hours, with a guaranteed minimum of 80% (6.4 hours).
If mechanical issues or weather conditions prevent your group from reaching the guaranteed minimum by the end of the program, you will be presented with the option to receive either a partial refund or a credit toward a future trip.
Refunds or credits may be applied toward lodge incidentals and gratuities or returned to the original method of payment. They are calculated using the following formula:
(Guaranteed Helicopter Hours – Actual Helicopter Hours) × Hourly Rate
Example
Let’s assume that at the end of your program, your group flew 6.0 helicopter hours.
6.4 (guaranteed) – 6.0 (actual) = 0.4 hour shortfall
0.4 × $4,780 = $1,912 refund or credit
